Accessing the Local Community

Lincolns Supported Living Limited work closely with the local community to provide activities, support and advice for the young people in our care.

We feel that all young people should access the local facilitites in the community, we do this by using sports facilities, gyms, swimming pools, indoor trampoline centres and much to do regular group activities and activity days.  Alongside this we as a company make use of the cinema, bowling alley and local boxing club to engage our young people in fun activities whilst incorporating life skills such as budgeting into each activity.

We work closely with the Guildhall and The job centre to ensure that our young people are financially supported post 18 and allowing them to gain all financial information needed for adult life.

As support staff we have an important role to play in supporting education by providing learning support at home, and encouraging the young people to take part in social and leisure activities. Taking part in social and leisure activities is important to help young people develop their full potential outside of formal education.

Involvement in activities such as sport or music helps children and young people develop their interests and talents as well as improve their self-esteem and confidence. It is also important in helping them develop their social skills and in building up support networks.

Looked-after young people and care leavers need good careers advice, as well as opportunities for work or apprenticeships to help them develop their self-belief and prepare them for adult life. They also need a level of financial support to take part in educational or training programmes.

It should also be remembered that fulfilling potential is not just about educational achievement. Young people need to be supported so that they can realise their hopes and dreams for their future lives as adults.

BIG SLEEP OUT 2021

Supporting The Hope Centre Northampton

Two of our staff Laura Brown and Paul Gilbert and now two of our 18+ service users will be taking part in The Big Sleep Out 2021 for Northampton's Hope Charity raising money for the homelessness community in Northamptonshire.
They will be bracing the cold weather conditions, by sleeping outside in the grounds of Delapree Abbey from 19.00 until 07.00 on the 29th January 2021.
Homelessness is a realistic prospect for many vulnerable people in Northamptonshire. We all see homeless people, we walk past them daily yet many are invisible to society.  We at Lincoln Cares Ltd want to raise awareness for those in need, gaining a real understanding of the harsh conditions many face on the streets of Northampton, in the hope we can contribute to finding accommodation for the homeless community and ensure they have a safe environment and skills needed to have a better future.

Our local community has so many opportunities for young people, there's always so much to do and so many ways to contribute to the community as well.

I think helping our local community is very important because there is so many people who are in need. Everyone should try to help their community in any way they can.

Boxing Session

Boxing is a great way to learn to release built up energy in a positive way. Before each session our young people take part in a warm up, and ensure they are kept hydrated throughout.
