Knife Angel
Save a Life...Surrender the Knife
The iconic 27-feet-tall statue has arrived in Northampton as part of its nationwide tour to highlight the issue of knife crime in the UK.
The statue, which was designed by Alfie Bradley at the British Ironwork Centre (BIC) in Oswestry, has been created from over 100,000 knives and blades confiscated by the UK’s 43 police forces.
The Knife Angel will be on display at the All Saints’ Church plaza in Northampton town centre for two weeks from Friday, 29 April to Friday, 13 May. First unveiled in 2017, it travels around the country in a bid to help reduce violent crime.

Our young people have visited the statue and have been/will continue to participate in the ongoing activities during the Knife Angel's visit.
Social Care Remembrance Day
West and North Northamptonshire Councils led a special service to mark the national Social Care Day of Remembrance and Reflection at Abington Park, Northampton.
The service marked two years since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic and enabled us, and residents from across the county, to offer our thanks to social care workers who have provided crucial care and support during the pandemic, and to remember those who sadly lost their lives.
The service featured a one minute’s silence, tributes led by school children and social care staff, and a performance of The Beatles’ In My Life.
There was also a memorial book to sign, a 'Thank You Wall' with stories and tributes from families and social care staff, tulip planting and the laying of flowers at the service.
